Editing guide
The wiki has one rule that matters more than the rest: nobody should be spoiled by a page they open.
Cite a chapter for every fact
End each paragraph, list item and infobox row with the chapter it comes from, like {ch 12}. That citation is also what hides it: anyone who has not read chapter 12 will not see it, in the page, in search or in edit summaries. If a paragraph mixes an early fact with a later one, split it so the early part stays visible.
Set when the page itself appears
“First appears in chapter” hides the whole page, including its title, until that chapter. Use the chapter where the subject is introduced. Things known from the synopsis use 0.
Let values change over time
In an infobox, repeat a label with a later citation when something changes, such as a rank or whether someone is alive. Readers see the newest value they have reached and never learn that it changes later.
Hide whole sections
Put a citation on a heading to hide everything under it, for example “## Second life {ch 40}”. Readers who are behind can still edit the sections they have read without seeing the rest.
Group pages with categories
Categories such as “Regression Alliance” or “Outer Gods” do more than sort: at the foot of each page, readers get a box listing every other page in the same group that they can open. Give a group three or more pages and it appears.
Point to the full story
Long topics live on their own pages. Under a short section, add Page so readers can go deeper, and keep asides out of the flow with a footnote: [* like this].
Tag every image
Set the chapter an image shows and the pages it depicts, so it appears on those pages for readers who have got that far.
Write about the people behind the books
Authors, translators and editors have pages under People. Their credits are filled in for you from WeTried and from the credit lines at the top of each chapter. Pages about people never contain story spoilers, so they have no chapter citations: link to where each fact comes from instead.
Your citations build the chapter guide
Each novel’s Chapters tab lists the chapters up to yours. Opening one shows every fact cited to it and the pages it introduces, so careful citations turn into a recap of each chapter for free.
Review
Edits from new contributors are checked by an editor before they go live. Editors publish directly and can restore earlier versions from History.
Markup
{ch 12}- Cite chapter 12. The paragraph, list item or infobox row is hidden from anyone who has not read it.
## Later life {ch 40}- A heading with a citation hides its whole section until chapter 40.
Kim Young-hoon- Link to another page in this novel. Missing pages show as red links.
Director Kim- Link with different text.
- Show an uploaded image. Put it on its own line.
| Status = Alive {ch 1} | Status = Dead {ch 300}- Repeat an infobox label when a value changes. Readers see the latest one they have reached.
Episodes- Under a heading: points to the page that covers the topic in full. Pages the reader cannot open yet are left out.
Leviathan- A “See also” pointer to a related page.
Text.[* A side note.] {ch 12}- A footnote. It is numbered in the text, listed at the end, and hidden with its paragraph.
| Episode {ch 1} | Chapters |- Tables work, and each row is hidden until the highest chapter cited in it.
**bold** *italic* - list- Ordinary Markdown works too.
